Vote For Me
03:22
|
|||
The ever-changing situation's outta' control,
and no one knows what to do
Cause the rich keep getting richer and the rest go to war
I guess that leaves more for you
I'm in bed with the enemy,
at home with the wife
Like hell I know what to do
Cause there's missiles coming over the border,
not to mention acid rain
But I'll take care of that when I'm in office again! [Chorus]
There's five minutes left on the clock on the wall,
and no one knows what to do
As long as I get your vote this year,
you can bet I'm counting too
I've got my hands in everyone's pockets,
and they've got their hands in mine too!
Cause there's missiles coming over the border,
not to mention acid rain
But I'll take care of that when I'm in office again! [Chorus]
The ever-changing situation's outta' control,
and no one knows what to do
Cause the rich keep getting richer and the rest go to war
I guess that leaves more for you
I'm in bed with the enemy,
at home with the wife
Like hell I know what to do
Cause there's missiles coming over the border,
not to mention acid rain
But I'll take care of that when I'm in office again! [Chorus]

Lately

|

Well, lately I've been getting a feeling
That maybe I outta’ be leaving
I'm gonna hit the road
and feel a change of season
I’ve been staying up all night
and sleeping in all day
I feel so lazy, I really can't stay
And we're on the road, rolling like a stone
We don't know where we're going so we'll take it slow
But the sunny weather will make it better
So take my hand until we run on sand
Been a couple of weeks since I've seen the snow
I've forgotten about the winter and the winds that blow
Cause lately the only thing I know
Is the feeling of freedom, on an open road
And we're on the road, rolling like a stone
We don't know where we're going so we'll take it slow
But the sunny weather will make it better
So take my hand until we run on sand
On the road, we don’t know
Sunny weather, will make it better
Take my hand

Charlie Friend
04:09
|

I walk these empty streets now on my own,
without a friend to take my old bones home
I've travelled far in a world with no end,
and all I'm missing is a friend
Long ago in a lonely town,
me and Charlie were running down
A gang of bandits and a bag of cash,
seeing if we could make the sunlight last
Charlie Friend was a friend of mine,
upon the rising sands of time
And what a friend to carry through this life,
but on that night so long,
he gave his life for mine [Chorus]
But as the sunlight began to fade,
we looked upon the mascaraed
Cause as we looked to see what we could see,
one of those bandits snuck up on me
He pulled his gun and shouted, "Not so fast!"
But that's as long as Charlie's patience was gonna last
He pulled his own gun and he pushed me away,
so I could live to see another day
Charlie Friend was a friend of mine,
upon the rising sands of time
And what a friend to carry through this life,
but on that night so long,
he gave his life for mine [Chorus]
I made it home without a scratch upon my face,
my best friend laying in his resting place
I broke the news to his only son,
of what a hero his daddy had become
What's a rambler supposed to do,
without a friend to tell his stories to
I walk these empty streets now on my own,
without a friend to take my old bones home
Charlie Friend was a friend of mine,
upon the rising sands of time
And what a friend to carry through this life,
but on that night so long,
he gave his life for mine [Chorus]

Black Bear
04:06
|

The year is 2020 and the rails have turned to rust
Memories of fast trains have vanished in the dust
But there was a time when the red whistle did blow
Through the rocky canyon, rattlin' off the snow
Gotta get back to the tracks of the Black Bear
(Can you hear it rollin’ down the line)
Gotta get back to that northern air
(That train is out of time)
Gotta get back to the tracks of the Black Bear
(Can you hear it rollin’ down the…)
Rollin' down those rails without a care [Chorus]
Sitting on the Budd car, rolling down the line
looking at that scenery, feeling mighty fine
But I'm wishing that the year was 1982
Cause this last ride has got me feeling blue
Gotta get back to the tracks of the Black Bear
(Can you hear it rollin’ down the line)
Gotta get back to that northern air
(That train is out of time)
Gotta get back to the tracks of the Black Bear
(Can you hear it rollin’ down the…)
Rollin' down those rails without a care [Chorus]
Said can you hear that train a rolling down the line?
Said can you hear that train a rolling down the line?
I said…that train is out of time!
By the time we got to Hearst,
the sky had turned to grey
The wheels had stopped a turning,
and I could hear the people say
"Back in the city, oh they don't give a damn...
...They’ll tear the tracks up surely” and mess a Northern man!
Gotta get back to the tracks of the Black Bear
(Can you hear it rollin’ down the line)
Gotta get back to that northern air
(That train is out of time)
Gotta get back to the tracks of the Black Bear
(Can you hear it rollin’ down the…)
Rollin' down those rails without a care [Chorus]
